About Sally

Sally Sparrow's Work Bench

My background 1973-1976 I spent at The London College of Furniture doing Furnishing and Textile Design. I paid my way through college knitting for fellow students.

The next decades were spent working full time and only dabbling in creative things.

13 years ago I discovered Felt Making. It was love at first go and I have been making clothes and other items ever since. I also purchased another knitting machine and CSM Circular Sock Machne (100 years old and works like a dream) so that passion was rekindled.

I love colour, technique and experimenting. My grandfather had a knitting machine in the 50's and my grandmother did exquisite hand stitching. So "making stuff" is in my blood.

I am the East Anglian coordinator for the International Felt Makers Association part of my role includes organising national and international felting tutors for workshops. I am a member of the Knitting and Crochet Guild both have great web sites (click on the links to view) and regular magazines.

I work closely and sometimes exhibit with Jay Edwards, a weaver and school friend, hence the Crafty Old Birds.
